CN started operations
in 1954 with one kiln using the wet process; two kilns were
added in 1957 and 1967 respectively, and completely reconditioned
in 1974. The reconditioning also transformed the kilns to
dry process, firing coal instead of fuel oil, and later converting
to petroleum coke. During the first half of 1998, CN completed
its expansion project increasing its total annual clinker
capacity from approximately 750,000 tons to about 1.5 million
tons by adding a new kiln. In June 2007, this kiln was upgraded
raising the total annual clinker production to 2.1 million
tons.
